Okidoki.... The lake is under the control of the Pendle, Burnley & District angling club so theoretically should cost you day ticket prices to fish, however I heard that the bailiffs do not bother any more as the water is a very poor fishery. Yearly membership of the club is only aout £25 & well worth it if you fish regular. See Mack's on Parliament street for more info. As for fishing the lake. The dam wall is good for catching, especially when it's cold as it's also the deepest part 6-14 foot ish. There are plenty of small Trout there to cause you a nuisance, Golden Orfe are about too. I have heard of Carp & Bream being caught too. Apart from the dam wall, I often see fishermen over on the far bank (opposite the disabled area) & even the bailiff fishes that side so that may be good, although I have not tried that side yet, I have too much stuff to lug that far. I tried over the far left bank near the island at the far end, the last peg where there is a big area suitable for a bivvy. It was awful, lots of bubbles to fool you into thinking that there were fish down there but nowt but a few trout. too many dead trees in the water to snag on for my liking and it's a very muddy path to get there. Red maggot is a good imitation for bloodworm which is a natural food found in the water, sweetcorn, spam etc are also workable there. It has not been stocked for a while, also we recently lost many fish over the dam during the floods. If you can travel & join the club it may be better to try Lowerhouse Lodge, as there are Carp there to 25lb & they are often caught, along with Bream 6lb+, Cats & more Carp etc. You also get a discount for the new Carp fishery at Cornfield farm where nets of 40-50lb are common. Next time I go I'm going on the dam wall or not at all. Barbless hooks, below size 6, groundbait by feeder only, 1 rod only except if prebooked night fidhing, no live/dead baiting using coarse fish, no tents or fires, no fly fishing, no tins, no boats are some of the rules for there.

lol i take it thats a regular haunt then......i used to fish the slate pits in accy a few years back but now i just spend my spare weekend time in the pub :D |

No, not any more. It was regular before I got my membership to the club, now I usually fish the lodge. Unless there is a match on, then I'm off there for a change or cornfield farm. Might try the fishery at Bolton or maybe the one in accy near Asda some day. One day I might even make it as far as Pendle Water, Clitheroe. I have plans to go to crewe visiting friends & border fishery in a while.

Thanks for the info Mattylad, i went yesterday up the far end near to the river inlet, your right it is mega snaggy there, mind you i had a nice tench so it wasn't too bad. The whole end of that lake screams carp!, as for Pendleview the misses and i fish it at times it gets mega crowded at weekend and it isn't a runs water. What other waters do Burnley pendle and district have rights for? Thanks again, Den:)

Eee, let me rack my memories......ouch. Lowerhouse Lodge, off Lowerhouse lane, Pendle Golf course - little pit - naff so I'm told. The Canal - start to finish :-) Stretches of the River Calder. New Cornfield Farm Carp fishery, off Padiham road. Some river stretches I can't remember far, far away :D There is also Marsden Star angling club, they have some of the Calder, a pond at Gawthorpe Hall, dont know any more - but Burnley tackle shop has thier details. Around here, there is also the reservoiur at Barrowford locks, mainly Pike, pretty poor. Clowbridge Reservoir - has some Perch in it :( Loveclough fisheries - a big pond and also a trout fishery last time I saw it. Bolton has Bradshaw fisheries & jumbles reservoir (both close), Bradshaws is about £6 and has Carp upto 17lb, Jumbles is no longer free and tickets have to be purchased from a Bolton angling shop prior to going :(, has pike, bream, tench, carp etc in (no boilies). Accy has a pond next to Asda, dont know any more around there.
