So what we would end up with was that you had to go to court and prove your innocence of a crime rather than the prosecuters proving your guilt. Sounds to me a bit like other other regimes we have condemned for their harsh treatment of prisoners and of being police states.

The system we have here is just wrong. We have one side trying to get someone off and one side trying to convict. It's not like me to stick up for the French but they have a better way it's based on evidence and trying to get the right verdict. As I say over here it's just a game.

Nessie, I would love to be able to agree with you, and I very nearly do - in principle. BUT On the balance of things this will do more good than harm. IT MERELY INDICATES THE KIND OF THINGS THAT THE aCCUSED IS CAPABLE OF DOIN. THE JURY (BLESS EM) SHOULD STILL JUDGE ON THE EVIDENCE BEFORE THEM

I respect all your opinions and your right to hold them. But I still believe in a person being innocent until proved guilty and know that there can be miscarriages of justice even in the present system. We have all read of people who have been proved innocent after spending years in prison. Thank You all for joining in what has been an enjoyable debate

nessie ithink you lost this one ,but when we lived in burnley ,we were burgled twice by the same yobos ,i could say their name but i wont . needless to say the second time they came back was because they assumed we had replaced the stuff, from the insurance they admitted to 50 other offences and 1 got 9 months and the other was sent away with a flea in his ear because he was addicted to drugs and he had put on a suit to impress, i was realy angry because they had stolen a gold chain which my mother had bought me for my 21st birthdayit was only worth about £10 butto me it was priceless .sorrybut i still feel the law is an ass.
