graphics tablets?

Anyone know anything about them graphics tablets, I fancy one but cant afford one really, that doesn't always stop me though.
any suggestions about the best value, what to expect from cheap compared to expensive. Just the simple sketch pad type
Any info at all really.

I have one but I could never fathom out how to use it. The person who may have been able to teach me, an old friend of my husband, unfortunately died recently.

sorry to hear that Willow. I cant seam to find a single person who has used one successfully, have found a few who had them and like yourself couldn't fathom it or did but just didn't find it useful.
I may try and borrow one from one of them before spending money.

Hello Poppy. I use a Wacom graphics pad and pen, the pen takes the place of the mouse. Would not be without it for Art work. Pop round to PC world, I have had mine for 4 years think it cost about £30 came with a paint prog.

thanks that's brilliant that was the brand I was looking at online. Nice to get a recommendation fro someone who has actually used one for a while.

may go into the shop and have a proper look

I've used a few for work in the past, one was a full-blown video graphics job and the other was a cheap, small one that I used for web graphics. I found them both good to use, I think you pay more for the size, but there's probably a bit more to it than that.

Maybe I really should dig mine out again and try to fathom it out. I've got all sorts of bumph that I never use.

At the mo though I've got enough on my plate wondering why my flash animations won't show up! I know it's going to be a 'DOH!' moment when I figure out why.
