Default Inability to see images

I'm not even sure if I can explain this properly.

I know that on some websites there are images but I just can't see them. My PC isn't even indicating that there ought to be an image there by showing me a box with a red cross i it. However, I use Firefox and I know that sometimes happens with firefox when a link is broken. But it's happening with Internet Explorer too. Yet when I look at the same page with a laptop the images are there.

I have cleared my cache, defragged, disc clean-upped, but can't help thinking that there is some really basic thing I have forgotten all about.

Any ideas?

In Internet Explorer go to Tools > Internet Options > Advanced and then scroll down to Multimedia and make sure Show Pictures is checked. If you asked Firefox to incorporate settings from IE, it could be the reason why.

If it all looks okay (As in already checked), click on Restore Advanced Settings and see if that helps.

Nope, that hasn't helped either.

I thought it might have been my firewall so I briefly disabled it and saw one of the images but not another one - then I put it back on quick. :noidea: I'm sort of thinking it's firewall related now but not completely convinced, and I can't work out how to permit the images because the firewall doesn't seem to want to give me the option and now the hyperlinks in my emails are refusing to work. There are times when computers drive me up the wall! :enough:

You can go into the firewall and into 'exceptions'. This allows the programme through the firewall. But you have to know what the programme is first.

Yep. That doesn't seem to be a problem and I can see all images on here as far as I know - the gallery is still fine and other images such as my dingbats are still visible here, yet on Rewind Lancs I can't see the images in the posts, only the ones in the gallery.

The not being able to click links in my emails is driving me up the wall too. I czn do that on the laptop but not on main PC!
