A cat was 'accidently' boarded into a house in Branch road (136). It was reported to the RSPCA, the council, the police and the fire brigade. Nobody responded. I have had someone at my door tonight to see if I could lend them any tools to effect a rescue. There have been a crowd there now for a while trying to get the cat out. A few minutes ago I got the message that they have made a hole somehow and are now trying to find the cat. My question is why has no-one done anything for 4 days (it was reported to all the above people 4 days ago). The local councillor says she was unaware of the situation but she will find out what she can tomorrow. I am disgusted. A life is a life and to be honest that little cat's life is probably worth more than the lives of a lot of residents in Burnley Wood. I intend to find out tomorrow exactly who has the contract for baording up these properties and then I will seek details on what steps they take to ensure the premises are actually empty before they board. What a sick uncaring world we live in.

I agree I no longer give the RSPCA anything. On the cat. They did go to Branch Rd yesterday and the lady said she got a glimpse of it up in the bathroom. Some people had managed to make a hol into the cellar the other night but probably the poor cat was so terrified it didnt go near. RSPCA lady was leaving a trap with some food in it yesterday (wed) and coming back today to see if she had caught it. She said it looked in fine condition just a bit angry but not hurt etc or looking tatty like a stray. The thought is (though we can never be sure) that when the council men were doing there checks on the boarded up properties the other day the cat followed them in and then became trapped. Which makes sense as those properties were boarded up some time ago. Sorry for ranting at the men doing the work... Didnt even occur to me that it was a lot longer than 4 days ago. The cat is a healthy, pure black shorthair. So if anyone is missing one it may well turn up home again today. If when it is checked over it is suffering from no more than hurt pride etc it will be released at Branch and will then be home full of stories of its adventures........................

Poor thing it must have been terrified! I hope that it is ok now?. We did drive through Burnley Wood yesterday and all the shops on Oxford Rd are uninhabited and boarded up. Very sad really as i remember it being so nice at one time and quite the height of activity with lovely people living and working in these shops.
