Crackdown on blue badge cheats

CHEATS who abuse blue badge disabled parking have been caught in a police sting.

Respected professionals and council employees are among a group of 44 people trapped in the biggest ever crackdown on parking fraudsters.
A two-week purge on drivers who fraudulently use disabled parking permits took place last month.

Police officers and the Crown Prosecution Service are examining evidence and preparing cases against the drivers. The maximum penalty for the misuse of a blue badge is a £1,000 fine at court.

Well about time. How many times do you see someone using a relatives badge and they have no disability what so ever and are on their own?

totally agree Neal, it's a nationwide problem. Nice to see some of them getting caught, what a range of people involved, not surprised though.

we used to have blue badges and yes people do abuse them ,,we found out a blue badge holder can park for unlimited time in able bodied parking areas but 3 hours in disabled bays ,,, bit daft realy, if i couldnt find a disabled bay i went home ,not enough in burnley to cater for all the authentic badge holders ,mind you i think traffic wardens are blind to badges,,,we got a ticket in a disabled bay and our badges were on full view and yes they were the correct way round lol, we no longer have the badges as boredom and lost medical records made going back to work a better option than waiting another 7 years for an operation ,, such is life
