Default Radio Scanning?

Hello all,

My brother says I can have a handheld radio scanner and I was wondering if anyone here has any interesting frequencies for the Burnley area? He lives in Leeds and I don't really want to be going over there for it on my day off if all I can pick up are a few aircraft.

We have a couple, Hubby being a plane nut. It is actually illegal to have anything but the aircraft frequencies, I think!!

It's illegal to listen to anything other than amateur radio frequencies.

Well, Hubby was stopped once, and the coppers checked out the frequencies he had his scanner tuned to and told him that all the aircraft ones were ok, but police and ambulance is a no no.

Police generally will not take action, but you are only legally allowed to listen to Amateur radio and licensed stations, such as radio 1, etc.
