Default Old Burnley Market

I used to love to go to the market, dont often these days as i live out of town.
Recently went to Coventry with my daughter who lives nearby, the market there is fascinating.
I love to look to see what produce i can get that i wouldnt get near home.

The markets were great back in those days. What we have now isn't a patch on how it used to be - mind you Burnley is a bit better than Accrington's pathetic excuse for an outdoor market. I feel so sorry for the stall holders. They are so cramped together that people can't wander past and linger looking at the goods, you create a roadblock if you have people buying from stalls opposite each other. And as for the ones on the outer edge they just get all the rain and snow on them as there is no protection from the elements. The roof is woefully inadequate. It's pathetic.

I shop in Colne these days and about six months ago bought some fresh fish from a stall there. It was wrapped in news paper! which i thought a bit improper as it isnt done anymore to do that?

I used to have a Saturday stall on the temporary market in between pulling the old one down and building the present one, you met some lovely people and some real characters, there was a friendly buzz between the stallholders if you wanted a break someone would look after your stall till you got back.
