I miss the old market too,,,half way through shopping I used to love having a leany black pudding from an old boiler,or a pork pie from Roses pie shop ,,they were the good old days

The markets were great back in those days. What we have now isn't a patch on how it used to be - mind you Burnley is a bit better than Accrington's pathetic excuse for an outdoor market. I feel so sorry for the stall holders. They are so cramped together that people can't wander past and linger looking at the goods, you create a roadblock if you have people buying from stalls opposite each other. And as for the ones on the outer edge they just get all the rain and snow on them as there is no protection from the elements. The roof is woefully inadequate. It's pathetic.

Years ago i used to love going to Accy market on a Tuesday, i caught the train from Burnley.. there was a wonderful cooked meat stall,,and the veg was second to none and it was cheap too

I used to have a Saturday stall on the temporary market in between pulling the old one down and building the present one, you met some lovely people and some real characters, there was a friendly buzz between the stallholders if you wanted a break someone would look after your stall till you got back.
