The best market I have seen in the last few years was in Italy
I was in an hotel looking over the square, when I woke up about 7.30 and looked out the window it was like a canvas town had sprung up in the night, No sound as they erected there stalls there must have been getting on for a hundred stalls, it took me all morning walking round, By 1.30pm they were packing up by 3.00 they had gone with an army of council men clearing up the rubbish by 4.00 the square was back to normal.

There was a really good market when I went to the costa del sol 2 years ago. Loads of stalls selling everything you coould imagine. On a big scale as well. Puts the markets I have seen over the past few years to shame. Just a pity we dont get that sort of market over here, it would be a hit in my opinion.

We visited a market on holiday in Malta last year - it wasn't planned, we were just driving around and discovered it. It was a fantastic street market with all sorts of stalls, everything you could possibly want. It made me quite nostalgic for how our markets used to be. This morning I went down Accrington and although it was supposedly market day there wasn't much there.

I went to the flea market in Burnley a fortnight ago, it was a busy market . The stalls were interesting and we had fish and chips in Holdens cafe which were good!I enjoyed looking around the charity shops and had a lovely day meeting an old friend.

I wish the same could be said about Tommyfield Market, I was born in 1980 and so can remember when going the market with me mum it was packed out esp., the outside stalls there was allsorts going on.

Since the indoor market was rebuilt somewhere aroung 88/1990 the outdoor market has dwindled to next to nothing.

Buy comparisen with Burnley market I've always found the flea market to be good and intresting with plenty to look at hence it's appeal for me.

Sadly you're not missing much here, and no you're right about Blackburn market a shame.

It seems markets have lost their appeal to some folk but not to me, I just like somewhere, where you have lots of variety and choice.

Not been to Bury market for sometime, they were noted for their Black Puddings Mmmm!!! yummy!!, along with other things of course.

I know at Accrinton market, there is a tripe stall and possibly more then just one, not something I have tried before, and wonder if worth trying, lol!!

I also like a good car boot sale and used to go to Clitheroe on wedneday nights and sunday mornings which where always good but they are another topic as such though.

When working and living in Norfolk several years since, the markets where good, lots of local produce produced by local farmers down there as they tend to work the land and grow crops down there, they used to taste good much stronger then what you could find up here, unless you grew you're own fruit 'n' veg that is.

I love looking at the local markets for something different usually to eat.
I bought some walnuts on Blackburn market and baked them along with some Butternut squash. With a cheese sauce on done in the oven with breadcrumbs on the top, they are a really good mix.
