My Great Grandma's brother was killed at the Somme on the 1st July 1916 aged 22:
UTTLEY, Pte. Richard, 15832; b. Burnley, s. of James Albert and Margaret Ann Uttley; lived at 95 Plumbe Street, Burnley; k.i.a. 1st July 1916 (22); bd. Queens Cem., Serre. [1, 2, 4, 21B, 147, 217] 11th Battalion, East Lancashire Regiment. My Aunt and Uncle spent ten years researching her family tree and traced one ancestor back to the battle of Agincourt and drew many comparisons between the two battles, not least the failings of the generals.
