Slack Babbath are officially back together (as announced at Quazfest 4) and will be playing as part of the 2005 Great British Rythm & Blues Festival at Olives (used to be the Greek restaurant) in Colne on Fri. 26th with Asimov and Tin Pan Alley.

By the way, the rest of the weekend at Olives (From Friday to Monday, organised by Andrew Turner from 2BRs Sunday Rock Show) sees such bands as 4 Candles, All 3 Cylinders, Antimony, Bashphelt, Cliff Rescue & the Helicopters, Dangerous Brothers, Dark Horse, Free'd, Futile Brothers, In At The Deep End, Inflatable Love Sheep, Mad Racket, Oriental Guitars, Peggy's Army, Pretend Girlfriend, Radio KFK, Serle, Snake Charmers, Tallica, (who went down a storm at this years Quazfest) and The Outlaws.

and just what is wrong with drummers?

In my experience, (about 25 years worth) all drummers are nuts. There's always something about them that's not quite wired up right. Even the quiet ones.
I was in a band years ago with this drummer called Dave who was the nicest, most polite, well spoken gentleman you could ever meet. He didn't smoke or do any drugs and only ever drank beer in halves. At the time I remember thinking what a change this made from the usual lunatic type of drummer until I found out he went throwing himself off railway bridges attached to a piece of bungee rope. During the interval at one gig, I'd just popped outside to get a breath of fresh air when suddenly, I heard a voice above me. He'd only climbed up the outside of the pub, spiderman style, and was somewhere near the roof. Nutter!
Every drummer I meet now, I ask the same question. "Go on then, what's different about you?"
Playing with Slack Babbath in Hartlepool once, we had a support band called Epic who had this very quiet, shy girl playing drums for them. I asked the question and she couldn't think what it was about her that wasn't quite normal until I asked her what her drinking habits were. "Well" she said, "I don't really drink much but when I do, I like to drink vodka." "OK" says I "When was the last time you had a drink of vodka?" She replied "Oh that's easy, on the bus on the way here of course!"

Must agree quasi, there is a 'tribal urge' inside the head of all drummers.

Imagine those nutcases like phil colins actually transferring there skills from beat to screen (scary).

I suppose drummers like bonham (led zep) are quiet and await the time to make their stance and play the drums VERY WELL.

THe real difference is that drum beat always plagues the drummer, its I suppose like a riff that a lead guitarist cannot get right till he/shes heard it a thousand times. I feel that drummers are perfectionists and as such find it dificult to follow music (since beat is sporadic whereas lead/ryhthem can be written per say)

Is it not perfection that crazes the mind, and when it's found, the mind has moved on elsewhere?

The life of a drummer is plagued, why? missing a beat to a drummer is like missing the gig altogether, hence the vodka start from Epic's drums...

My Dad Played All Over The North West With All Kinds Of Artists And There's Nothing Weird About Him At All....HE DRUMMED FOR OVER 25 YEARS....he's Just A normal bloke!!
