Does anybody on here have a child/grandchild ect who is or are doing there School works experiance?.Well my son was given at his School (St Ted's),where he was going to for w/experiance.Smallshaw ind estate,at a bakery's.Bare in mind he's 14,from 6am till 12.WHAT!,isn't this the 21st century?.Isn't it against Health & Safety regulations?.I thought 6am was classed as unsociable hours, and from 16 to 18 you were required to work from 8am.From the age of 18 you were permitted to work nights/6-2/2-10 ect. Slave labour if you ask me.

So, your son is learning a useful trade and also learning about the responsibility of having an early night, learning what life is like in the real grown up world, learning (to a cirtain extent) how to cook and bake (a guy who can cook and bake will never go hungry, in other words, he's learning to fend for himself.) and he only has to work 6 hours a day, finishing half way through the day with the rest of the day to himself, and you're complaining?? ![]()

Ok i've read your responces, firstly he sort of has a Sat job, working with his dad in Oldham work permitting. He want's to be an electrical engineer when he leaves school.Thats what my husbands business is,so in that respect he is learning a trade. You cannot cook/bake without electricity.

Chances are, if he can go with Dad he will learn a heck of a lot more. YTS kids usually get stuffed with the lousy filing type jobs that no one wants to do. I have never ever seen anyone actually teaching a YTS kid about the work.

Unfortunetely there won't be anyone in the area who can offer him that sort of job. I'd have a word with the person sorting out w/e at his school and see what other placements there are. My brother was given his a week ago 10am till 6pm mon wed-sat. I had a 9-5 job on the two placements I ever did.
