| Hello everyone, I have already replied to this posting, but pressed the wrong key and lost it. I remember the store down near the culvert and I also remember a herbalist store on Padiham Road, near Gannow Top. They also sold healthy drinks like dandelion and burdock, sarsaparilla, etc. They had a couple of tables with some chairs inside, so you could sit down and enjoy. Happy memories! | If you were poor like me and couldn't afford the Oden you went to the Salvation Army on Holmes Saturday morning to watch the silent movies (6p or 2 jam jars to get in) then on to Fitzpatrick's for our sarsaparilla, after that to the skating rink opposite the Yorkshire public house for the rest of the day.
