Rep Power: 2 | | Re: Return A&E to Burnley By making this statement you are bringing into question the ability of the paramedics who work in Burnley.
They will have had the training and understand trauma care, they will not transport a patient until they are stabilised? What? use rushing off to hospital in Blackburn withs sirens blaring and lights flashing if the paramedics do not understand the basics of trauma care. |

Rep Power: 7 | | Re: Return A&E to Burnley Are you saying that they have all the necessary life saving equipment in the ambulance that they would have at the hospital? No matter how well trained the paramedics are they can't work miracles and sometimes stabilising someone can't compare to getting them into A&E ASAP.
All this centralising of hospitals and having to travel miles just doesn't seem like a move in the right direction to me.
They are too busy to add me at the mo - I'll try again later.

Rep Power: 0 | | Re: Return A&E to Burnley On the night of June 8th-9th I was wakened by what appeared to me the same symptoms that I had when having my Heart Attack 18 years ago. 999 was called and the paramedics were with me in in just a couple of minutes. They quickly calmed me down and had me on the way to Blackburn, doing all the tests on the way, ECG, pulse and blood samples, the manner of these lads was fantastic. I was in Blackburn hospital within 30 minutes of making the call. It turned out all was OK and after various test I came home the following afternoon. |

Rep Power: 7 | | Re: Return A&E to Burnley I'm not denying the skills of the Paramedics, but sometimes they are expected to work miracles beyond the scope of the equipment they have. What about people from the other side of Burnley who now have to travel to Blackburn instead of Burnley? And what about accidents where paramedics aren't involved? Do they still do any minor injuries at Burnley now?
I'm thankful that they have a minor injuries at Accy because my daughters have had accidents which wouldn't have warranted an ambulance but I wouldn't have been able to get them to Blackburn as I don't drive so thankfully could get them to Accy Vic.

Rep Power: 2 | | Re: Return A&E to Burnley I think people have been deliberetly misled over this for political reasons.
You can still get treatment at Burnley for A&E but if you need a ambulance it will take you to Blackburn, Now if the local politicians bothered to look into it properly they would find that the biggest problems arise from follow up appointments when people have to go to Blackburn for them as I have had to myself, I drive and it put me out so the problem for people on public transport must be a lot worse.
Then there is the local taxi firms always willing to rip off the pensioners who have worked all their lives towards making this country great, Just to be betrayed by career politicians who do nothing but vote themselves big pay rises and generous expences.
Its ok Gordon dancing around with a placard saying save our A&E but what proposals has he put forward that would save it? None at all.
But he used it well in the last elections,
Burnley people should have the truth not spin and half truths.
I have signed Neil, could you start another asking Gordon Birtwistle for the facts please, and his proposals. |

Rep Power: 2 | | Re: Return A&E to Burnley You have mentioned Gordon Birtwistle? perhaps Kitty Usher and Gordon Prentice should get a mention?
Was it the Primary Care Trust that ran rough shod over everybody in relocating Burnley's A & E to Blackburn? always remember they do not have to answer to anybody? |

I think perhaps you have not read the dossier assembled by your local politicians?
I wish I could post the URL to it for you to read, but unfortunately I don't have the permissions from the web site administrator! However if you search Google for
its our nhs dossier
you should find it easy enough. Quote:

My proposal is to rip up the new GP and consultant contract and quit wasting our money on PFI. The NHS also needs breaking up into locally managed units that are properly and directly accountable to the public.
All the best,

If you want to get in touch, send a private message via this web site. Or use the Council web site to obtain my contact details. Or ring Burnley Council on 425011. Or ring me directly on 07973 174148. Or email dreynolds@burnley.gov.uk. Or use the Burnley Lib Dems web site, which also has all my contact details on it.
Hmm, you're not perchance just making mischief are you?
With respect to the web site, I've ditched the provider because their interface was too cumbersome and I'm now using Blogspot, which is much easier. The old URL should be diverted by tomorrow. Quote:

A while back we did get a £5 a week pay rise, because Burnley councillors are some of the lowest paid in the country - even after that rise. This change was voted for by your friends in the BNP, so I suggest you take it up with them also.
If people don't think the town is improving, particularly on street cleanliness, they can make up their own minds who to vote for, I'm sure!
Best
