Allotments

I have just been out walking and found some allotments up off Kirkgate in Burnley Wood, under a little bridge? Some of them look very neglected etc I just wondered if anyone knows who owns/runs these allotments. I'd be very interested in one of them.

I think contacting the council would be the best approach, I think there is generally a shortage of allotments nationally and they are coming back into favour so if you can bag one now you might save a long wait.

Acording to the tele, its coming fashion to grow your own veg, you cant beat home grown lettiuce and tomatoes

Yes I like home grown fruit and veg, I find it a tad hard work but find it very satisfying, with the results you can acheive.

I would expect the Council would be the people to contact as Col Kurtz said. I'm sure there was a drive to promote such activity on the tele just from the heath prepective.

Me uncle David and his wife, Me anutie Christine used to have an allotment just off Windermere Avenue, and rented their plot for years.

They used to grow very strong onions and great tomartoes amonst other things and enjoyed what they did partaking and sometime's winning in local compititions etc.

Good look if you do aquire a plot and hope you enjoy it.
