Burnley Last Friday My youngest daughter and I paid a visit to Burnley last Friday - mainly because I knew there was a branch of Zodiac there and she wanted to check out the Goth dresses. We'd looked in the one in Blackburn and not been particularly impressed by what they had. The Burnley shop is a lot better, far more choice and a more spacious premises.
However, the rest of Burnley saddened me a little. So many empty shops and I thought Accrington was bad! As for the market - where's it all gone? There used to be loads of stalls in that chilly side but there were hardly any, and what was there wasn't all that inspiring.
There used to be some really interesting and different shops in Burnley but it just goes to show that I haven't been there for a while. One of my favourites was on Standish Street. I think it was called 'Weird and Wonderful'. Those sort of things just seem to be fizzling out. There was one in Accy Market hall called 'Moonstorm' and before that there was 'Dragon's Den' - anyone know if there is still one of those in Nelson? The Accy one was a branch of that. At least we've still got 'The Glory Hole' in Accrington.
What's the matter with folks round here? Are we all so boring and lacking in imagination? Anybody know if Hebden Bridge is still interesting? I haven't been there for ages.
