Talking NEW SCHOOLS FOR BURNLEY ??? WASTE OF MONEY OR NOT ??

Hi,

Do we all agree with the need for these super schools in our town or do we think that it is just the burnley council pushing through another PC lost cause ???

I personally dont want them because i have one son at habegham at the moment who likes the school and doesnt want to change, my other son is still at infant school but when he comes to change to senior we will not have the choices we will be told which one he has to go to which i think is not right,, i just wondered if i was on my own or does anyone else have any opinion on this. :stop:

I think they should upgrade the current schools and kepp them as they are. I am in a particularly bad position as in my GCSE year I will be working from cabins in the grounds of habergham which is totally unnaceptable!

Another issue being discussed is racial integration. Many parents of pupils at gawthorpe High school I know are not happy about the "join" in schools.

In my oppinion this is not a WASTE of money however I think it would be easier, quicker and cheaper to upgrade the current schools instead of demolishing them and building new "state of the art" schools.

im in skule now, and they are guna mess with peoples exams. you may not know, but the proposals say that the sixth form at st teds will shut and a new college will be built, this will probably happen wen im halfway through sixthform. this is just gunna mess about with people and peoples lives. being uprooted and moving may take people timme to get settled, and so it may affect their exams. i dunno why the cncil think that the schools are so bad and need changing.

Does seem to be a lot of money to spend on an 'experiment'. I say keep the schools as they are and make the over-subscribed ones bigger.
BTW, they were tinkering with exams when I was studying for mine - bringing in GCSE's, what a farce that was...nothing changes!

I to have a daughter at Habergham who will be doing her GCSEs soon and a daughter at junior school in year 5.I am very concerned at all the upset these new super schools will cause. My eldest wanted to stay on at Habergham sixth form to do A levels but after hearing and reading all the horror stories she has decided that she wants to go to college instead as she said she doesnt want to go to a sixth form based down Barden. Why cant they just refurbish and extend the schools already in the area?Theres plenty of land around there.Im also worried about my youngest daughter having to go up Rossendale Road to school. Its bad enough starting at high school without having to travel far aswell.:stop:

............But these county councils dont think about the children, all they think about is how to cut costs and fill their pockets even more.
Burnley schools are fine...........I spent 5 years at Towneley High and it was ok for me,now i believe it is an excellent school, one of the best in the county.
Why cant they just give a bit more of a budget and expand these existing schools instead of spending more cash demolishing and building this so called "super-school".
COUNCIL TAX IS UP AGAIN THIS YEAR (PADIHAM THE DEAREST IN THE BOROUGH) What are they doing with it?
It stinks!!
