Clear up our Streets

In Burnley Wood we as residents do a visual audit every six weeks, we note empty houses with open access and dirty back yards, we have an environmental cleansing officer allocated to the area who works with us very closely and will order in contractors to clean up the worst problems and to make secure these premises, as a result of these measures we have had 45% less complaints received by the council from Burnley Wood this year. We also recored any street light that is out and report it to street lighting who repair it the next day.

The council chamber is made of many cliques that don't work together so you havn't got a chance of getting anything done anymore.

I'm pleased for Burnley Wood residents Brian, but people should take for granted that their areas are clear of rubbish etc after all we all pay Council Tax for that service.

I don't know why they are so proud of Hammerton Street, it is covered in discarded chewing gum. I was brought up to use a bin or if none were around bring my rubbish home. We can't lay all the blame on the council's doorstep, we have to take responsibility for our own actions. I'm fed up of hearing the excuse of litter louts who say "it gives someone a job", no it doesn't - it takes up time that could be better spent doing something useful and productive.
