Nelson test centre has a very poor pass rate. I'll try and dig out the links where I saw that lol

Think they are flattening the shops at the bottom of railway street and opposite the station hotel and making that the new bus station. When they demolish the old one its gonna leave a big hole in the middle of the town!!

I've never really been to Nelson all that much but the last time was when Busman (my OH) was moving up here from down south and looking for a place to rent. The house he wanted was in the hands of an agent in Nelson and we used to go over quite a bit trying to sort it out. You wouldn't believe how much it dragged on because the owner wanted some work done before it was rented out so it was ages before he could get the keys. Every time we went to Nelson we called in to a little cafe for a hot choc. The market seemed to be quite good back then.

That seems like ages ago now as we've been married almost 2 years.

its a long time since ive been to nelson but spent 26 years living there and when i moved out it wasnt anything like it was when i was younger i used to love nelson.

Like TB I lived in Nelson til I was 21 and its a shame the way its gone downhill, I still have family there and visit regularly, in fact I was there today. When I was younger the arndale centre was thriving with many people visiting from outside the town. Nowadays when you compare Nelson to the likes of Colne and even Burnley it really has come off far worse.

i havent been there for a few years but the last time i was there, there was nothing but a bus station and a few shops and a grotty pub (the zoo)

What you are all saying reminds me of were I come from, Leytonstone, East London. Once it was quite well to do, now it's a grotto run by grug dealers.

I lived in Nelson for 23 years, thankfully I moved down south in 1996. Nelson holds nothing but bad memories for me. Burnley was ok, I remember good nights out there and I did meet people in Burnley that I wish I’d kept in contact with. My niece keeps asking me to go back to visit Nelson. Hell will freeze over before I visit that God forsaken town again. I remember it stating in the 'Lancashire Evening Telegraph' in 1995 that Pendle came eleventh out of the whole country where most suicides occur. It’s hardly surprising.


James Pickering & Quazi Washboard, I enjoyed reading your posts about the bands at the Imp. My mum went to the Imp a few times, she remembers seeing Bill Haley there.

i'm living in nelson... i'm 18... lived in nelson since i was 5, it's an awful place to live... full of delinquents who i'm glad i don't know, the only reason i'm living here is because i'm living with parents and its darned expensive to move :P... no decent shops or pubs in nelson.... then again there's one which is alright, the Clayton Arms, i've been in once.
burnley is so much better in my opinion, i like going there just to mill around town doing nothing because there's so many old buildings to look at, went to the sanctuary once, very memorable night :)... in short nelson sucks lol

nelson used to be a lovely place when i was younger it started to lose its appeal in the mid nineties sadly :(
