Incredable as it sounds though, The Lord Nelson pub is what they named the town after, before that, Nelson was split into Greater Marsden and Little Marsden. NOT Lord Nelson himself, who was one of Englands greatest heroes, but a pub!!

yes having lived there until 1999 ive had many a night in the zoo. lol

should left it being called marsden sounded nicer always thought that lol
my mum and nan also used to work at the great marsden pub lol had a good few nights in there aswel.

i was told by someone it was home of the wheel chair, but dunno why that is? I used to live next to the great marsden hotel, was well noisey on a fridy night with drunkens coming out. when i was a kid i'd play tricks on them, like cover their cars in leaves and soil, and throw eggs at the taxis when they drove out. When i was 16, me and friend went to the zoo, and we were kicked out for being under age, after we bought our drinks and had just sat down. ridiculous...

anybody used to go in The good night club? used to enjoy it down there when we used to finish at the Station. Wetherspoons come unstuck with that one sold it now, probably only pub they opened that didn't make a profit
