I think it needs one or two decent hotels to help attract people to Burnley. If the oval is actually started and completed this centuary it may help, though more smaller individual shops would be good too.

Cheap shops such as pound shops etc will kill trade on the markets in any town, people want cheaper goods, no doubt about it, do you get batteries from the pound shop, or do you pay three times as much in the bigger shops..., so life in the markets is gonna loose custom and crowds, i know where my money goes, Burnley just seems dead to me at the moment, if you go on a night out these days down town chances are you'l be mugged, theres more and more cases of muggins in the centre, the telegraph is always asking for witnesses, makes me wonder where all the cctv cameras are pointing if they cant spot somebody being mugged at 1am on st james street, yet if you drop a fag end the cameras are on you like a ton of bricks for a fine...... I think its the same everywhere you go in the uk it just looks filthy........... You go abroad and the binmen are cleaning up at 1am 2am while you sleep, so much litter, decay, rundown depressing housing, everything is grey in the uk and it needs some colour....... ![]() ![]() ![]() : biggrin:![]() ![]()

There should be a way of entertaining kids in a big way cheaply. a lot of parents cant keep forking money out for their kids, school trips, uniforms, going to youth clubs, discos, sports centres, all costs money if the parents have nothing then the kids get there things they need from other places etc......... we need to get the kids off the streets or in 10 years time who knows what it will be like......... they entertain themselves via filming slapping people on their phones etc,........... ![]() ![]()

Noticed a planning application by Greyworld 'To project a permanent image onto the surface of the chimney using a gobo (directional) projection of visible light' Burnley Borough Council - Planning Application Search This is on the Oakmount Mill Chimney, Wiseman Street .. so that should light up Burnley a little.. ![]() ![]()

I think it would be difficult to find things for kids to do after school, as years ago there were older people who voluteered their time. I have seen jobs for people in the area which are low paid youth club helpers . Unless these people have more wages i cant see that working. I think it starts with kids at home, communitys together starting allotments in areas. So that family,s can teach their children to grow things to eat. Bring back time with the kids and avoiding taking them to the pub. Picnics in the park, playing with the football. Burnley has some lovely parks!
