Question Burnley - 19th worst town in Britain?

Did anyone watch Location location location the other night? According to their studies Burnley is the 19th worst place to live in Britain and I was wondering what everyone's thoughts were.

Burnley - Best and Worst Places Live with Kirstie Allsopp and Phil Spencer from Channel4.com/4Homes

I notice the Burnley Express has dedicated it's front page to defending the town's honour - by showing a picture of Towneley Hall.

I don't think things are as bleak as the statistics make out, it's all based on house prices, crime figures, income etc...we have a lot going for us too! Some things that graphs and tables can't describe, like the friendliness of a town's inhabitants.

In fairness they do mention the fact that we are surrounded by great countryside. I don't think anyone should be 'outraged' by the findings of this survey, maybe our council leaders could use it as a kick up the pants for improving things?

...or maybe we should let everyone else believe it's a dump and keep it as our secret? lol

I really don't think these sort of polls serve any useful purpose. All they create is a platform for people to slag towns off. All our local towns have suffered greatly due to the loss of major industries and lack of investment IMHO.

But do people not slag towns off anyway? Polls or no polls. Though I do agree with what you say about the loss of major industries / lack of investments.

Yes they do slag other towns off but IMHO things like this only make it worse. It just seems to fan the flames which I think you would agree just isn't needed!!

Burnley isnt as it was sadly , but neither are most places in this area. As i am from there i know lots of good people and there are still nice places to go. Burnley has produced some interesting people and long may it continue to do so .Look how places can change due to communities pulling together. The press are at it again for something to say! Weavers triangle is to be transformed, I am all for that. Kids need to see culture and our local history should live on for our descendants to be aware of and enjoy.

Went to Burnley on Saturday with my daughter to do some shopping.

Crikey if people think Burnley is grim they want to try shopping in Accy!

I think the main reason Willow is that to keep up the standards of say 30 years ago the council tax would be 5 times what it is now, there is so much outside legislation now from central government and lets not forget Europe, the only problem is that this legislation does not come with the appropriate finances to put it into opperation, so something has to give

I don't think there's anything wrong with Burnley, I don't think these surveys serve any real purpose and as such shouldn't be taken to seriously.

There are those that do though and more fool them in my opinion.
