Burnley - 19th worst town in Britain?

Well im from Hull and last year we were in the no 1 spot and this year i think we are 4th,so 19th is great lol.

Well I am from a little town known in Northants as "little Scotland" and whenever anyone tells me how bad Burnley is I say, Yes of course, You see police escorting Fire Engines and ambulances all the time here, you see people murdered over car parking spaces don't you... No you don't yet In Corby you Do! The only thing bad about this Town is the people who do it down. Give the rest a chance and people will see an improvement. Maybe if people would stand up to kids lobbing bricks at Taxi drivers, or people assaulting paramedics then this sort of rep would go away.

Still it doesn't help when our "Civil Servants" The Police look like they should be in a war zone does it ??

Could be worse.. because lets face it i thought it would!

Ill agree that burnley in my opinion has lost its appeal but for some reason i still wouldn't move ;P

I came to Burnley to visit 25 years ago and never went home, I bought my first house here because I could afford to then, Kent where I came from was way overpriced to a young person then, so low house prices are not a bad thing.
What Burnley had that the south never was a great sense of community spirit, and very soon I had some great friends, I met my wife, now we have 3 great children,
What I see now are them same communitys being destroyed, terraced housing being torn down, with rabbit hutches being built in their place that our children can't afford, Row upon row of empty boarded up houses, Local public houses deserted or boarded up due to the smoking ban along with high prices.
Teenagers hanging around on street corners showing no respect for people or property, Just last week I saw a telephone box in Rosegrove completly destroyed by vandals, But nothing being done to get these kids off the streets, just ASBO's to move them on to the next unsuspecting nieghbourhood.
Out of town shopping has killed off the town centre shops, the only time the town comes alive is at night when the pubs and clubs are open.
I can remember going shopping on a Friday after work with my wife, we used to go to Quick save for some things, then across to leo's for others, and any things we needed in town we went and got, now it's park up at asda and everything is there.
Not going into politics but so much of our money is wasted being PC and on grants for one ethnic group or another, or on health and saftey that other things are being cut back to pay for them, Like weekly bin collections, our Hospital, Closing Libarys, Cuts to the ambulance and fire service, and many more things.
Well I could go on and on but don't want to get boring, just a few of my thoughts, Burnley is my familie's town, and I would stick up for it to any outsider.
