In some places they are starting to do that already and even if we only learn a smattering of a few different languages it all helps.

I think the days are gone when the English used to be famous for expecting the whole world to speak English and never learning another language ourselves apart from Latin.

As well as French and German I learned Spanish but unfortunately with not using it I've forgotten a lot. I started to learn Russian but only got as far as the alphabet and a few words. Busman had a spurt at Arabic when we went to Tunisia but all I can manage is "hello", "goodbye", "thank you" and "No!"

Thats more than me Willow. Mind you I have enough trouble with English without trying to handle a new language. Mind you I suppose I could set myself a chalnge to learn a new lingo.
