Let's start a thread on silly and old Lancashire Laws:

In Lancashire, no person is permitted after being asked to stop by a constable on the seashore to incite a dog to bark.

I believe taxi's are still by law, supposed to carry a bale of hay in the boot, for the horse.

Certainly true in London, but in Lancashire, I don't know.

I know that your not allowed to shake your doormat outside on a sunday. Its an old law that has never been changed since the victorian days.

All men and boys over the age of 14 must carry out 2 hours of longbow practice a week supervised by the local vicar.

Why would a man of peace (allegedly) supervise an art of war? Its a contradiction in terms?

I have absolutely no idea. Maybe they assumed the vicar would be the most reliable person in the vicinity.
