Woman dies following park attack - Burnley Web

A 20-year-old woman who was attacked by a gang of youths in a park in Lancashire, has died in hospital.

Sophie Lancaster and her 21-year-old boyfriend Robert Maltby were found with serious head injuries in Stubbylee park in Bacup, Rossendale, on 11 August.
Mr Maltby was left in a coma with bleeding on his brain but has since made a recovery.
Lancashire police have charged five teenage boys, aged between 15 and 17, with section 18 wounding. These charges are now subject of a review in liaison with the Crown Prosecution Service, police said.

What a sad waste of a young life. Probably for no more reason than looking at the attackers or being 'goff'. Murderers...!

Well, I hope this means the charge will changed to 'murder', but it will probably be manslaughter.

It seems as it is getting to be every day we are hearing someone has been murdered. It's a sad world we are living in, that people are getting murdered for being in the wrong place, looking different, etc. (Not that I think murder is ok in other circumstances!)

That young lady used to come in my cafe at Stacksteads, she was pretty, polite and a pleasure to serve, as was her boyfriend, they were both goths, and i am finding it hard to believe that the she may have died because she "looked different" I hope the scum who did this rot in hell.

Robert is an amazing artist, I met them both at the preview of his first exhibition, it was being held at a gallery owned by friends of mine. I raved about his work for months after the show, so much talent. I met them both and his parents, you couldn't meet nicer people, softly spoken, friendly an absolute joy. They were also a very good looking couple and made the goth thing look really good.
Robert had bleeding on the brain, but did manage to go and see his girlfriend before she died. These were two truly lovely people.

Robert if you see this my heart is with you, please find a way to go on.
You are in my prayers.

they call themselves the 'bacup crew', had a video on you tube but I see it has been removed now, there have been a lot of comments posted on there, mainly describing in graphic detail what is going to happen to them. Hope the police have taken an interest in the vid. How have we got to this, 14 and 15 year olds running in packs committing murder. Biggest cowards going on there own, but get enough together and they are brave enough to beat a young woman to death.

Its horrendous these wild kids doing stuff like that, whether its drug related? or drink related? boredom? its very disturbing and makes you want to get out of Britain.

It is so hard she was on her gap year, it just beggars belief.
I just heard on the news that the vulnerable guy with learning difficulties that was beaten by a gang of children in Sunderland died this morning. This seams this be happening everyday at the moment. They should start locking up the parents alongside the kids and throwing the keys away.
I just hate the world at the moment.

exactly why it happened there is so much of this about that people dont seem to realise and notice.
we have had to put up with crap like this for years and now so poor innocent girl has paid with her life for being different.
this world is sick.
there is going to be a outcry about this i can tell you.

they are targeted because the look 'different' its always been the same if you dont conform to a certain style or music people oust you and cause trouble and make your life hell.
myself and my kids were targeted when i lived in oldham we put up with it for 5 years til my eldest couldt take anymore and retaliated which showed the idiots that they couldnt push him around anymore.
the police didnt wanna know when we rang them it was horrible.
