Sorry to hear about all the bother you have been having Mattylad, but what will the police actually do to discourage this happening ,to someone of the age of 14. Obviously the youth as no respect for the community and the upset it causes.

Might be my word against his, but I'd have thought thatthe word of an adult that is a responsible member of the community with no prior police involvment record etc was taken over that of a known abusive little thug. Either that or one evening down a dark back alley he is going to get more than a word :D

Wasn't saying you are not an upstanding resident who is telling the truth Matty, just pointing out that the way the law works the CPS wouldn't take it to court. They want to be 99% sure of winning the case before they prosecute.

Not all kids are bad but a lot just don't have any respect for other people. They need to learn that they can't do as they please. Until people stop turning a blind eye to "Petty (it's not happening to you) crime" it just gets worse. One day that kid will have kids of is own. ![]()

Matty I do sympathise with you and know it is so frustrating having to deal with wanton vandalism and wish I had an answer. Wayne has it right, a trip to the cop shop increases their street credibility with their mates. Pity the days of as clip round the lug hole have gone ![]()

I might be old fashioned but a clip round the ears would do more good .icant do with all this politicle corectness malarky . I am not a bully but if kids have no respect for other peoples things ,they should be be made to feel it where it hurts .G.C. :stop:

It is very true that the police ( or more correctly the CPS ) may not take such a case to court because they have to prove "beyond reasonable doubt". However if this young person is a general troublemaker and a nuisance, I suggest contacting the local council Anti-Social Behaviour Unit. Where I now live there are quite a number of ASBOS served on mainly teenagers. These are initially civil cases so the proof necessary is less than in a criminal court. The proof needed is "on the balance of probability". Where I now live and work ( in Leeds ) in the estate where I work there is a "dispersal order" in place, which means that any under 16 year olds out on the street after 9pm are escorted home by the police, in effect a curfew on youngsters, and anyone gathering in groups can be asked to leave the area by the police and not return for 24 hours or they could be arrested. And all this started with youths gatheroing in gangs outside where I work - Although it did not help when my car was set on fire by fireworks last year. :flamethro All I now need to do is find out who has smashed my car windows outside my house twice in the last 2 months, is it random or something more sinister?
