This is a discussion on Any good walks? within the Burnley Discussion forums, part of the Burnley Chat category; I'm just after ideas for interesting walks around the local(ish) area. I know we've not had great weather for it ...

| Thanks Chaser, I've been scouring GoogleEarth and the rest of the web and Wycoller came up a few times. I don't remember ever going there, so that looks a good bet. I've always wanted to capture Bolton Abbey early in the morning when there's mist about and no crowds! Top of Pendle is always good for blowing out the cobwebs, I had a fantastic drive around there last summer early one morning with the roof off. It was perfect ![]()

| Yes I did Willow! I went to Wycoller - it was a while ago now. Took quite a few photos although I've STILL got to finish off a slide film from that day  I really liked the place and did a bit of reading up about it - Interesting history. Not been to Bolton Abbey for a while, I was kind of saving that one for when I finally get the car finished. I had a nice walk around Thursden vally not long ago, although I did struggle to follow the public footpaths - they seem to have disappeared in places. A bit further afield, I walked from Widdop to Bronte Bridge/Falls and back on a very wet day...which I really enjoyed! Always up for more suggestions!

| Yeah, it can get quite hard going where places have got overgrown and I did feel a bit self-concious traipsing across fields with no path or visible exit at the other side. I did use a map, but it's quite old - bought in 80's, last updated about 1974! lol I read in the Burnley express about swathes of countryside being opened up and made more user friendly, which is good although I do like to explore the wilder places as well.
