Default Burnley centre

Yesterday, went shopping in Burnley as I often do, 'cause Accy does not have any of the High Street shops I like to support.

Lovely afternoon, sat in that square with the bronze figures (don't know name), was 5.30 p.m. all the shops closing down and very peaceful. Smoked a fag whilst I was there and looked around for litter .. could not see any dropped fag ends/coke cans or chewing gum piles. Course I put my fag end in my bag like a good little citizen.. but must say was impressed .. well done Burnley.

P.S. What are M&S doing to their store ? was a good one to start with, certainly better than Blackburn or Accy; this improvement won't be finished until the Autumn . so can only think they are impressed with Burnley to make it even better !

They are very hot on the litter problem in Burnley town centre. £50 for dropping a fag end if you get caught.

It might be better if you didn't give this good impression of Burnley in public, the people on the other website we frequent would be very alarmed if they found out that Burnley is not a town full of chavs, theives and dole wallers :tongueout:

Credit where it's due Lancsdave, can't keep knocking all the time.:tongueout:

Mind you, no ashtrays that I could see, and couldn't spot that CCTV anywhere, sure it is there though. :spy:

Will keep that in mind when I am next in Burnley. Besides I like a little bimble around Burnley besides it keeps me out of the pub and mischief. Maybe other towns could look on Burnley as how it should be done.

Before everyone starts creaming themselves over how clean the town centre is they should check out areas outside the market square. Outside Mcd's and Hammerton street can get quite messy, especially at the weekend, and are covered in discarded bits of chewing gum. St James's street, Parker lane and Church street sometime get drifts of rubbish blowing along them. Not blaming the council or anything, it's the buggers that drop it in the first place! :yell:
