went to Preston on Thursday, intending to go shopping (as i do several times a month) but in a moment of madness we ended up in Carlisle(by choice)...now thats a nice town to visit....called into Preston on the way back and went to Primark in the Fishergate center, i like Preston, its ok to just nip there when your bored, plenty of shops to keep you occupied

Used to go to Preston quite a lot - can't for the life of me remember why, but I know what you mean about it being disorientating. As for the road signs - well there are places we knew we wanted to get to but the directions and one way streets and no entries kept sending us back round in circles!!

went to preston two weeks ago to my daughter a prom dress and omg havent been round there in years .. first nightmare was trying to find somewhere to park after getting locked in the one way system grrrr then when we finally parked took ages to find the fishergat centrs ...couldnt believe how much its changed..great for shopping but bloody awful to get there..

Carlise is nice, used to go there when I lived in Newcastle and fancied a change.

Preston never seemed that bad to me... I quite often went to Manchester shopping when I was in the UK... Whats Blackburn town centre like now? Last time I was there it was full of greeting card shops and small pharmacies/perfumeries. And walking round you could swear you was in another country!!!
