As for the turkish-themed decor of those houses I really don't know what they were thinking?

for a start most people in turkey are muslims anyway, so the turkish theme would of been apt

I hoped it would be something like that.

I know turkey is a muslim country , the developers used the turkish theme supposedly as a 'halfway house/east meets west' thing - in effect a pair of turkish slippers and a brass tea set decorating the show house.

I don't think anything I have said has been racist :suspicious: . I'm talking about real problems that law-abiding people are getting fed-up of (whatever colour/religion they are). I''m not saying it's only one section of the population that's involved in these activities, it's the suppression of the reporting of these activities I find hard to stomach.

That is what tends to cause racism, when people perceive that they are not being treated equally.

It becomes really stupid when people are wary of using someones skin colour or ethnic background when describing them for fear of being seen as racist. For example. I've got a new eye specialist and last time I went to the hospital I saw one of the team. He's Greek and I had a few goes at practising his name because it's rather long and complicated. When I had to phone them up about something a few weeks later I said to a friend that I wondered if I would get the name right or if I would have to resort to saying 'the Greek doctor'. My friend said "Oooh you can't say that. It might sound racist!" How the heck can it be racist to describe a Greek guy as being a Greek guy? That surely is PC gone stark raving bonkers.

Maybe they didn't 'own up to it' because they didn't vote BNP. I couldn't have done even if I'd wanted to because we didn't have a BNP candidate.

When I was at Primary School we had a West Indian girl who came to the school and everyone wanted to know her because she'd come from somewhere we'd never been, and there was nothing un PC about noticing that she had brown skin and black curly hair or spoke with a different accent.
