Burnley: Pedestrian Crossing on a bend?

Whilst on my way to work today, I noticed a new pedestrian crossing is being constructed on the junction of Barden Street / Briercliffe Road. I only really noticed this new construction as I was about to drive over it as it's on the bend that takes you onto Briercliffe Road.

To me it's just not in the right area and should be located on a straight piece of road. You come out of the junction from Colne Road, look to your left to check for bicycles as your supposed to when moving or turning left and then by that time your faced with this crossing. I think this could have been though out better.

They must have money to get rid of before the end of the financial year or something, and can't think of anything better to spend it on. You do come across weird traffic planning every so often where you think "what were they thinking?"

The worst ones are the complicated traffic calming chicanes and the like...just puts potential confusion into the equasion imo.

i was born and brought up in that area of town and it is the daftest thing i have ever seen happen in dukebar,,,,like u said a straight piece of road yes ,,not on a bend ,,,,duh the mind boggles

I've don't get up that way often but saw it today, very bizzare! Surely there will be an accident there before long if its kept like that.
