My Mum used to make sad-cakes, they are just shortcrust pastry with currants in, she would sometimes add chopped mint from the garden. The Burnley Pie recipe i have looked for but cant find and cant remember it either? Found the recipe-http://pendle.homestead.com/PENDLERECIPES.html- Some interesting recipe,s and Burnley Pie turns out to be a sweet one!

Just reading through these recipes,there is one for parkin, the doctor mentioned "Doctor Burns" had a daughter. Who i knew as a lovely old lady who had a housekeeper in Burnley and used to visit when younger, as they were neibours !
