We used to have them with Sunday lunch when I was a kid. I think you boil them gently, but you could steam them. The secret is to have a little pot of melted butter on the table and dip the tips before you eat. Delicious.

A friend of mine in Germany used to make a sort of creamy sauce to pour over asparagus. That's not exactly a Lancashire recipe though is it? :yelrotflmao:

I think i cooked them too long, they went all soggy,but they were nice with butter..
My best dish is home made cheese and onion pie, i always get that one right...:thumbsup:

usually mature white chedder,i like to mix red and white if i have both in ,it makes a lovely two tone colour,,,but i always boil my onions first.. i cant stand them hard..

butter pies are easy to make. shortcrust pastry.boiled potatoes which have been diced, salt pepper. roll out pastry for your plate 1 top and 1 bottom,grease then line a tin plate.Add cooled potato and top with pastry.egg wash top and bake in oven.hey presto.
