Lancashire Police Wasting Money?

POLICE officers are being taught Polish in a bid to communicate with the thousands of Polish workers who have come to East Lancashire.

Bosses have made cash available for officers to learn foreign languages and one of the most popular choices are lessons in Polish.

Police chiefs believe the move will help build relations with new European workers in the area.

It is said that Polish workers often have a mistrust of the police due to bad experiences in their homeland and come to the county with little or no English Sergeant John Rigby, of Blackburn police's ethnic mino-rity team, said: "We believe languages help officers broaden their outlook and break down communication barriers.

Here we go, we are short of Police on the streets, crime is sky high and what do the Police decide to fund first? That's right, members of our once proud Police Force are having to learn Polish (And other languages) to be able to speak to people who have chosen to live in an English speaking country.

The first step in helping relations between people would be for THEM to learn the local language, of English. There you go, pay for that instead. And that idea is free, more will cost you!

I wouldnt expect to go and live in another country and not have to learn the native language. Anybody living in this country should be willing and able to communicate in English. I'm sick of money being thrown at things like this!

THEY should learn English or **** off. A town nearby is now 1/4 Polish doing many locals out of work.

They do learn english before they come over here but its mainly writing - not speaking plus when they do come over here we have different dialects and different ways of speaking. Like do we talk the same up here compared to what Londoners and people from Cornwall talk? No we have our own way of saying things - one thing can mean one thing up here but down south it can mean something totally different.

7 polish where i work they are on 15 pound an hour were on 10 they dont pay tax or national insurance and get family credit sent home

Uk is becoming multi racial like the usa now, everybody gonna migrate here for free handouts and guarenteed employment and a home too, nothing personal about anybody, they need to build up rundown areas of the country first,its just gonna be all rival gangs in the near future.......

If you work for a legitimate employer then I would suggest that information is not totally correct. They will have to have tax or NI deducted. However if they started work since last April they will have a catch up period for the year to date on tax.

Pretty sure the family credit only works in this country too.

Have you just woke up to the fact that we are becoming a multicltural society, we have been a multinational country for years. The only people that can't get anything out of the system are the ones that built it.:eyebrows:

i work for the second biggest employer in burnley very legitimate, no they dont have to pay tax or n.i until they have earned around 8000 pounds and after that they pay normal tax no back pay or anything they are on 12 month contracts so its about 7 months tax free.. this information is very much correct thank you..

over here we are outrun with polish, it dosent really bother me but when we are throwing money in the wrong direction then that bothers me .... its hihg time our government started looking after their own before ploughing funds into other nationalities that gain from our facilities already...
