Singing Ringing Tree

Thought you all should know, Singing Ringing Tree, the Panopticon for Burnley has been built and now resides on Crown Point. The launch was held today in a very windswept place - the top of a hill.

I'd be interested to hear your views on it.

Unusual, different, not as nice as rossendales, but better than hyndburns.
Hyndburn will never get one because they'd rather argue over things that nobody has said.

I saw the article on the news and was quite bemused by the fact that when the wind is as strong as it was today it doesn't work quite as well as a breeze lol.

If Hyndburn haven't got one then it stands to reason it's better than Hyndburn's. I actually heard they had a troll but then they misplaced it :-)

Bobbed up there this afternoon, got some pics up in the gallery under 'scenery'. Was very misty...and wet! Don't expect to be able to shelter from the rain under there, the rain just drips off the pipes lol. Oh, and there wasn't much wind, so I haven't heard it's magical tune yet either :(

It looks a little weird. Not sure if I like it but i'll take a peep up tomorrow. Excellent photo's as usual Col!

I wonder how long it will be before it's vandalised? I'm betting 1 week.

You're probably right! Although I'd be more worried about pikies uprooting it to weigh in than grafitti.

I was tempted to climb up it, but it was far too wet...has to be done sometime though!

Well I took the camera up today and had a look. I like it, but I think it looks more like a tornado. Like the paths and the feel of the area though now. It should be larger so it can be seen from a distance such as the saucer object planned for Rossendale which lights up and has cameras, etc.

lol, it's a small camera, about the same size as a normal photo camera.

I did feel silly though. You spend money on a camera and then feel silly using it, but it was worth it.
