Marsden Old Hall, Nelson

Marsden Old Hall in Nelson which dates back to 1560 and used to belong to the Walton Family has undergone a £500,000 restoration funded by the Council and National Lottery's Heritage Lottery Fund as part of a £1.8 million Marsden Park Regeneration Project.

The building has stood empty for several years and now boasts Park Keeper's office's as well as special teaching and meeting rooms which can be used to run workshops and demonstrations for visitors.

Before closures, it was used as a Lunatic Asylum, Council storage site and recently a changing room for football teams.

I applaud the council and local groups who have helped with this, all historical buildings should be preserved.

awesome place it is i remember seeing alsorts whilst sat in the gardens just below the building its an amazing place marsden park is brill

What,s these allsorts you saw there? I remember going to a good works do there but didnt get any spooky feelings! Rosehill house yes and an ashtray flew off a high shelf whilst i was having a drink at the bar, coincidentally my grand dad had his police beat around that area!:hairraising: :hairraising: :hairraising: :hairraising:

there was lots of people appear at the windows when the place had been empty for years and years and a lot of mists it just oozed energy even the park did i used to walk round the park a lot and its a eerie place in some areas

I used to work there about 16 years ago when it was a restaurant, lovely place but definately some paranormal activity going on, sometimes the place was icilly cold even on a hot day.
