Default elderly neighbours

just a little thread to remind people to keep an eye out for the elderly amongst us....please make it your business to check on them. Reason being ive been upset to find one of my neighbours has alzheimers today and id no idea, social services have got involved today so hopefully things will be ok. She's one of the lucky ones as those of us who live around her are nosey enough to care so we've interferred so thats shes safe.
Try to remember that not all old people have family or friends and just sparing 5 minutes for a cup of tea could make all the difference. :)

What a thoughtful reminder and how lucky the elderly lady is to have such caring neighbours. Even the offer of bringing a few groceries back with your shopping would be a great help for some old folks.

This is Wayneyboy and not Digsy,I cant log him out.
I work with elderly people and I think it's great when they have good neigbours, some as Dellym say's have no or uncareing ralatives. Unlike Maggie I think there is such a thing as sociaty.

I have elderly gentleman living next door to me, he is in Benidorm for two weeks, today his house alarm went off so I grabbed my rolling pin and looked round the back couldn't see anything so called the police.............. Still waiting five hours later

I agree with everything you said, but i tried to help an elderly neighbour but when anyone knocks on the door it seems to scare her more, but i will keep an eye on her over this cold period!

The thing is that elderly people get scared if a stranger comes to the door, best thing is not to go round after dark, and just keep an eye out for them.

it now appears that its not alzheimers after all thank goodness! She suffered a breakdown caused by a number of shocks and worries she had last year. She bottled it up for so long that when the latest shock came ie. her housemate got rushed to hospital, she just had a total shutdown. She came round with her housemate the day before yesterday and is far better than she was. She knows me again and can dress herself..slowly but surely shes coming back :)

What good news for the old lady and she will recover with help. So pleased she will be able to stay in her own home.
