We had a spate of that a few years ago,it turned out to be a house a few doors away that had rigged the meter,it went off about sx times and only on our side of the road.
The best thing is to get a torch and candles cos the electricboard have very little extra capacity and they expect power cuts.

Well, its actually not as bad as I made out, was a spate of it last year mainly, then there was the dodgy water episode a few weeks ago which the water board over the phone said was safe even though it was forming a precipitate and fizzing!

Think it is fair to call them power failures rather than cuts :D The problem is cutbacks to save money and the lines and substations aren't checked as they used to be nor are there the staff to do repairs as there were in the days before the industry was privatised.

Think the avenue next to mine must be connected to a different substation as other people across Ightenhill were affected yet this particular avenue wasn't!

We have that problem here, the substations were only for so much usage of electricity and with all the extra appliances households have these days they can't cope.
