Didn't put Santa's Grotto because he isn't going to be there
Asking in the town centre managers office when Santa was arriving in Burnley town centre was told he isn't this year but there would be a grotto. How do you explain to the little ones that Santa is giving Burnley a miss this year? Who decided to spoil the excitement of seeing Santa arrive in the town centre for the kids? |

They seem to come round every year with Santa on the sleigh, the look on the childrens faces as he waves is a joy to behold. Even if they are past the age of believing, there is still the magic of the season around them and we shouldn't take it away from them as they grow up quick enough.

Nessie is it just Burnley being Burnley or is it the Winterfest brigade?
Father Christmas was once drunk, well he looked it,they had a huge blow up one on top of the market hall and it was'nt filled properly,it swayed about and was very funny. |

When I asked in the office why there was to be no Santa, I was told it was because last year teenagers had tried to pull Santas beard. Sounded a lame excuse to me, more likely they are saving the money it would have cost.
Santa manages to get round the playgroups, nurseries and primary schools at least to make up for it. |
