Burnley Now

An article states that moves are under way to allay peoples concerns over car parking in the town centre. There is a map with locations and prices for information in beautiful colour. Now having looked at it, I see no extra spaces than those that were there before St Peters was knocked down. In fact I failed to find the small car park at the bottom of Bank Parade on the drawing, so does that mean that is also going leaving less spaces than ever?

Its hardly the most reliable paper in Burnley, they put a positive spin on anything and thats why there's hardly anything in it. If it detailed everything that the council was doing wrong it'd be thicker than the Burnley Express.

Couldn't agree more Robert, but if they can't get the drawings in their own publicity right what chance is there of anything being right? Problem is, we have to live with their mistakes.

There is less parking now & there appears to be no plans to improve it for a long while.

However, for 40 mins parking I can usually find something & at weekends I know of some spaces that are always vacant, a little walk never hurts.

A walk may be nothing to you Matty, but for the elderly, those in poor health or with arthritis it may be just too much.

Can only be grateful that there's a bus stop 2 mins from my house. Saves on using a car and takes me direct to the bus station.

I was talking about me with the walk :D I do have a bit of arthur misself.

Still, I found the no3 bus today, means I have to get up earlier but it goes all the way from about 100yrds from my door to the station.

For those that have problems walking distances without being in pain then there is always the disabled badge scheme that seems to be letting them park almost anywhere. I know that the requirements for getting one seem harsh, but anyone can apply if they find walking difficult, they just need to persuade thier doctor to agree with them (who in turn can persuade the authority).

Is a lot better now they cut out Sycamore Avenue off the route and replaced no4 with 3a.

dont drive ourselves , but that disabled sticker thing is a laugh,last summer i was walking down the street witch leads to town in cleveleys ,and this big shogun type car pulled up outside a big store and a young girl in a mini skirt and a young bloke jumped out ,placed a sticker in the window and walzed off , if they were disabled i would eat hay with a donkey ,you neaded a parochute to jump down from that car,and they are not the only ones who abuse it here :stop:

There is lots of abuse of the system, but no matter what a system is for there are those that will abuse it.

Getting back OT, the Burnley Life is a joke, always has been, always will.
The online version for #3 was advertised for ages until I pointed out to them that it was actually #2 that it linked to.. :D
