Default Lucas - Apprentices 80's ? Oulton Park Bike !!!!

Hello to forum (I am a newbie !).
I am also a Scout Leader at St. Andrew's Scouts at Duke Bar and wondered if anyone can help me.
Our scout group were given a superb gift a few years ago - a handmade, racing, 4 wheel bike, made by the apprentices at Lucas ! It has been stored since and now it is in my garage and ripe for refurbishment and would be great to raise funds for our Scout Group.
Does anyone know about it ?. It dates from poss 1980's and needs some work doing to it - but we are poor..... I have emailed TRW in the US to see if they can donate.
It was apparently raced at Oulton Park as an engineering apprenctices design and build competition. Not sure how it did. We have looked after it well over the years but needs some work.
I can email photos if required.
Please make contact via 5thburnleystandrews.escouts.net website - use contact Scoutleader email addresses look for Tony. Cheers. (or come and see us at St. Andrew's Church on Wednesdays - Scout Night !)
Thanks
Tony

Ahh, page is missing. Will look into why and reload it to the website. Contact details on the Lucas Bike page.
Thanks
Tony

PS if there are any generous cycle shop owners out there who can donate parts to us then we would be very grateful and we would credit your business name in all promotional materials.

It needs some work but more importantly needs new brake calipers, pads, cables, possibly new tyres, and pedal assembly. That is why I am hoping a local cycle shop may be interested in assisting us.

Strangeley - I also saw the new Will Young Video today (where he plays Blue Peter presenter's from the past ?) and I nearly fell off my chair when one sequence shows a few young people riding quad cycles (like the Lucas one) around the studio !!!!. I am now searching the net for more info !

I think that before any cycle shop was to start giving you parts you would have to go some way at cleaning it up yourself to show that it's a definate project.

Hi, yep you're right and thats what we have just been doing as a concidence. As it is aluminium it does polish up quite well. It just needs a few missing bits and a few goosed bits replacing. Am going to take some better photo's of it.
Cheers
Tony

Well, speaking of Lucas's apprentices - my hubby used to be a Lucas apprentice many years ago. He worked at Northbridge, and I worked at Hargher Clough. That's how we met. He owned a motorcycle then and imagine, after he retired he bought himself one over here in Canada. Think he's going back to his second childhood, but he enjoys it.
