Schools in Burnley

Anybody in Burnley heard about this? As a Science Technician I belong to a Science Technicians forum and someone from Burnley posted this:


"I don't know if you know but we in Burnley have all (teaching and non
teaching) staff have had to apply for new jobs as all our schools will closein summer and reopen in september as different schools, many of them
merging. this week we finally got notice of the jobs we have been offered(some unfortunates got offered nothing). I have been offered the senior technicians post in two schools that have been merged. previously i worked in one of these schools with a part time technician. now i will have a p/t and a f/t tech under me, with twice as many pupils, science staff, labs and working on split site that is 3 miles apart, on the same money i was on before. i have enquired about upgrading, but because all non teaching staff are being assessed for regrading at the moment my uniun tell me that noyhing will happen for between 3 and 5 years"

I am a parttime art-technican who wants full time, i have got my job back and heard 95% have in the pendle area!I wont say where i work as its irrelevant. But in why the government in planning these school changes must of spent an awful lot of money employing people for the amount of changes that havent really been that different after all? (mostly paperwork)
