If anyone read the articals in both the Burnley Express, and the Burnley Telegraph, about the "Witch"" that abused a teenage girl, I would like to say on behalf of All pagans in the Local community that the headlines would not be tollerated by any other faith, you wouldn't see "Christian abuses teenage girl" etc. However I can say that we are all Shocked by the turn of events and all of the National Pagan bodies like the Pagan Federation have been notified, and will not tollerate people like this within there midsts.

Further more: an abuser is always an abuser no matter what faith they hide behind, nor nomatter what there reasons are, they may think they are justified, but do the rest of us see it this way. What if it had been our children?

I for one don't want a Witch hunt, I have enough pagan federation paperwork on my desk without any more thankyou ;)

I don't know anything about the reports in the Burnley Express or Telegraph regarding abuse suffered by a teenage girl by a witch; however it has been my experience (and everyone knows I am the oldest person on this site) that there are many abusers in the world. To emphasise that this person is of a certain belief system solves nothing. There are abusers in all religions - we just don't know about it. In Canada, more and more is being found out about these "so called" religious schools where children could board. Thirty years after the fact, these persons who were abused are coming forward to challenge this fact. This means the more people speak out, the more the abusers are going to be on the alert before they stalk someone.

There are good people and bad people in all walks of life, and in all religions, and law offices, and politicians, in schools, etc. so directing hatred towards one particular group is wrong. We can help by being aware that this is going on, and if we see any incident regarding abuse, we should report it. Better safe than sorry, and maybe a person's life will be saved. Not all abused people live, and those that do are scarred for the rest of their lives. It's like the African saying, "It takes a village to bring up a child". We all play a part.

Here I am again. It looks like I've started a controversy as to who is the oldest on the site. Now, don't get me wrong. Most people say I don't look my age, and until all my problems started a couple of years ago - I didn't. But anyway, that's beside the point. You want to know my age. I was born November 22, 1937. That makes me 68 going on 69. Oh, by the way I'm a "she". My name is Mary.

I havent seen this report in the papers Moonoak, but people that abuse kids can come from all walks of life/faith,friends,family eg Gary Glitter a pop star,teachers,the nice bloke next door,uncle Vincent etc! They are often very cunning and get away with it for years,all you can do is make it hard for them by keeping an eye on your kids!!
