What's So Good About this Fair and Pleasant Isle?

I'm an ol Lancashire lad from way back. I guess my fondest memories of UK were the 50's/60's and 70's! so that dates me a bit. I no longer live in UK of course and haven't done for some time. But I do of course keep up with the news and still have contacts and family.

Obviously Uk has changed in many ways and sometimes when you are in the midst of it, it is hard to recognize or remember all that has changed. But what I am really curious about is:

What is still the big attractions of living in UK? I'm not really interested in the down side - I've heard plenty of that over time. But what are all the pluses of living there that makes it better than living in other parts of Europe or even further afield? I'd be interested in hearing some honest down to earth Lancashire views!

I love living here..........i wont moan about Taxes as you want the good stuff.
Right.........ermmmmmm.............
Where could you get free rain for 360 days of the year? (like today)
We've got the nicest binge drinkers in the world.
People are friendly after 15 pints (cough cough)
We have a prime minister that cares for his country. (Ha Ha)
We have beautiful countryside that you can ramble in and no farmer is allowed to shoot you if you break into his house.

I love living here................EVERYTHING'S FREE.

one of the good things is being at hand when anything goes wrong with a family member..........................I am just a few hours away from Lancashire................
other than that not much....
