| You don't need a degree at all. You just need to put the leaflet somewhere, mines on the fridge. It's pretty simple. However I am anti-recyling, but not for thoose reasons. It takes more energy to recycle something than to throw it away. We are not running out of landfills. Paper is cut from trees on paper farms, the more paper is recyled the less paper farms there are, which means there is less trees grown as the land is used for farming and agriculture instead. So recycling paper just wastes energy and means more trees are cut down. The only thing were running out of is oil so, recycling plastics is the only worth while thing really. |

I have never heard anything so stupid. We "are" running out of landfill sites, by not recycling you are adding to the ever increasing mound of rubbish that we have to bury, and I for one don't want it to be buried anywhere near me. It's not always about the energy but what eventually happens to something. There is more than just paper that needs to be recycled and kept out of landfill and we are a use it & throw it away culture and it has to stop. Every time that trees are cut down to make new paper,, don't think that a new one is planted that will replace it - it just does not happen like that. If land was used for farming or agriculture, is that a bad thing? I think not. |

| And where exactly would you put 20x20 miles of waste? Especially given that the land cannot be used for building on for a very long time, also that no-one will want it in their vicinity and permission will NOT ever be given for landfill in areas of natural beauty etc. Why do you assume that burying our waste is the thing to do? It's not, reusing what can be reused is a much better way to live our lives. I suppose you don't consider the possibility that one day you might have children & would be leaving them piles of rubbish? |

| On my last visit to Burnley in February I was absolutley appalled by this recycling lark. Not the recycling as such, just the way it is being implemented. How insane for any council to come up with such a stupid method of dealing with waste. Surely it would be a better idea to supply each household with more normal sized wheely bins 1 for plastic 1 for glass 1 for general etc. that are easily transportable........especially by our older citizens. Can you imagine your 80 year old granny carting those silly boxes about. Its lunacy . |
