its all bull...someone i know went yesterday when they were sposed to be flying and dropping cash. Nothing went up as the one they tried to fly had a big hole in it!! I know they had the firework display last night but really to my mind if its sposed to be a family event then surely the balloons should be flying by day? My little un was really disappointed.

We went yesterday, the nightglow was worth £3 on it's own but it was only on last night. They flew a couple yesterday but only as far as the golf course due to the weather. We enjoyed it despite the weather.

Yeah it was crap & I recall getting slated because I said so & someone came on saying it cost £10k to organise etc.

Luckily we didn't go this year either....

It's not £10k actually ... more like £50k...

Just for the record, I really enjoyed the event and have been every year for the past 4 years... the nightglow is well worth the entrance fee and there was always something going on in the arena this year (unlike in previous years where it was very bare for most of the time).

An event well worth keeping in Burnley as it brings people to the town from all over the country.... shame the natives do nothing but whinge about the place!

Oh but the natives do do lot's, it's just that every time we go they are not going up because of bad weather.

We can't all stop there all day waiting for some balloons lifting off you know.

Some of us have interesting things to do, like paint the wall & watch it dry :)

If anyone ever gets chance to, a hot air balloon trip is great. I'd do it again without hesitation - I only had a short flight, filming over a country estate early in the morning. Didn't get much chance to take it all in as I was looking through a black and white viewfinder at the time, but I won't forget it.

No I live in the Ribble Valley... there's a lot worse places than Burnley to be in though let me tell you!

And fair comment about the balloons not going up etc.... It costs £12k for the balloons alone and for the amount of effort the pilots put into it, it's not really worth it..... If you get a chance to go to the event in Bristol (think it's on this weekend!), then it's well worth the £7 entrance.

Don't think the Burnley Balloon Festival will be going ahead next year in it's current format... there should still be a show of some kind... probably without the balloons!
