Default Granville/Time/TIny to close.

The local Simonstone based Granville Technology group, owners of those nasty high street computer brands such as TIME & TINY are set to close shortly.

Today all their shops have not opened & it looks like the 2000+ staff will be made redundant.

From what I know about the quality of their computers, this may be a good thing, that the brands are taken off the market, leaving better computer suppliers the opportunity to provide decent systems in their place.

However, it will leave thousands of staff unemployed & seeking work & this is a shame.

All the directors have resigned (like rats leaving the sinking ship?) except the Chairman.

Either Emit (the factory shop) will be having a mega sale or will the company resurface under a new name, the previous one having been declared bankrupt etc?

He will most likely be insured by credit card.
Best to contact his CC company straight away & ask for advice from them.

Also he will need to contact Tiny via the numbers supplied to confirm that he will not be getting his PC.

Unfortunatly I get a little inkling of "I told you so" in this.

From what I have heard/seen they have always been an awful place to deal with.
However there may well be a few exceptions & some may well have a faultless system.

D' you think emit will have a bargain scanner in for me then?

Another blow for jobs in/around Burnley, I'd never buy a new PC from them though - heard from an ex employee that customer service is crap.

Unhappy Re: Granville/Time/TIny to close.

I rang my CC company and they said that I have to wait for 30days to give Tiny a chance to deliver my pc then if I've not got it we can fill in a form for the CC company to claim the money back. Thank God I used my CC and not paid cash, as they are not coverd, and they bottom of the heap when it comes to getting a re-rund! These burgers where still taking money off folk knowing full well they where going tips up and I feel sorry for the punters and of coarse any works who have been made unemployed!

sisters boyfreind is a cleaner at time and said a couple of weeks ago redundancy was on the cards, didnt realise anyone on here was buying from them or would have mentioned it earlier, he said he had never seen as many goods returned anywhere he had worked, shoddy place, though it looks like the workers will all be paid out, he is nearly 60 though and not in good health so is feeling pretty bleak at the moment:Depressed

I worked for Time some years ago and after about 3 months told them to shove their job. I have never worked for such a shoddy company and am surprised they made it this far, as closure was on the cards back then. They were only ever interested in shelling the pc's and notoriously never interested in after sales of technical support. The staff turnover there was appalling. I would never have recommended anyone to buy a pc fromTime Tiny if I'd have known. I for one am glad they've closed down, but am sorry for the people who worked there. It'll be a miracle if anyone gets redundancy. What company would tell their staff they're laying them off without notice? It's bang out of order if you ask me. They deserve to go bust!
