| My son couldn't go out when we lived on Cog lane (just off Harold) because some young thug would jump him & beat him up for no reason. That's the way of life up there & I'm well over the moon for having moved away. |

| Morning Mattylad Its a fact of life in a lot of the areas of Burnley, most people would like to move to a "better" area but a lot of people will never be able to, we in the community have to work hard to create neighbourhoods that are safe for all with better play facilities and more controlled green areas to encourage kids and young teens to mix and play together rather than indulge in destructive and threatening acts. | Don't I know it Brian, I have been trying to get out for the past 15 years. It's only the recent housing boom & glut of landlords that allowed me to. I doubt if Cog lane will ever become a place that is safe to play & with better play areas for the teens etc, not with the current scumbags that live there. I know all about trying to better the area & how it's just like banging your head on a brick wall, I was on the residents association comittee & that was a bit of a waste of time. Any attempt at making a play area, perhaps putting some swings etc up is only going to be any good for the under 7's etc. The teens never get any decent play areas, certainly not ones that are not besieged by older yobs who wreck & glass it. Yes it might be suggested by the council that it's going to happen, but then it will be withdrawn & cash will go elsewhere or a much lesser thing will get done instead. That's the way it is & always will be, esp in Burnley. |

| it was ok when i used to live in nelson but we allways heard all the bad stories about burnley and these areas.we decided to leave nelson after my x was walking to work one evening minding his own business he wouldnt start trouble with anyone hes just not that type of guy but anyway walking through nelson bus station and about 30 asians decided to give him sh*t he ignored it and carried on walking to work then they got annoyed cause he was ignoring them so they got weapons out didnt they.now at this point he decided to run (as you would)he had to run all down side streets to avoid them all luckily he was fine and he managed to make to my mums house safely.now thing is all he was doing was going to work for gods sake after that he had to take a dog chain with him and walk a different way which was bloody stupid.so that was the main reason we moved over here.there was just no reason for them to be doing what they did.
