| Large fire at Queen Street Mill as I type. Been to see the site, and it's well ablaze. Forgot to take my camera so if any managed to get any photos please let us see. A lot of history has gone now, my Grandma was one of the last group to actually work in the mill many years ago now.

| It was Jason believe me. I could see it from Westway. Had a drive up again but then my camera didn't like the new batteries I bought for it, what a shame that was! Spoke to a fireman who said that 2 pumps were called at first to a fire in the rear yard. When they arrived, the back of the building was well ablaze. By the time they got the equipment ready the main factory had caught hold. They had struggled too with water pressure as it is significantly reduced at night due to lack of use, so that didn't help. Someone said it was started by one match, so we will just wait and see.

| I find it hard to believe that something like that was an accident. Probably kids or something insurance related, who knows.

| This is from last nights BBC website A fire has caused extensive damage to a large furniture mill in Lancashire. About 50 firefighters attended at the height of the blaze at the mill in Harle Syke, near Burnley. A Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said it was thought no-one was injured and that there would be an investigation into the cause. She said that large sections of the mill, on Queen Street, would have to be demolished after the fire which started late on Saturday night. ![]() |
